Robert Lewandowski, a scorching-hot striker for FC Barcelona, has predicted that Karim Benzema will take home the Ballon d’Or in 2022. Lewandowski will consider it unfortunate that the Ballon d’Or awards for 2020 were postponed as a result of the coronavirus global epidemic. He recently scored twice in Barcelona’s exciting 3-3 draw with Inter Milan to maintain the team’s tenuous chances of making it to the Champions League’s round of 16.
The former Bayern Munich striker was the clear favorite to be named the best player in the world that season after tallying an astounding 58 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
Fast forward to 2022, when Madrid captain Karim Benzema appears poised to win the Ballon d’Or, and the 33-year-old made a lighthearted jest before endorsing his challenger.
“Benzema is probably one of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or, if they don’t cancel it, then probably, he will win it, yes”, he said, as per Movistar’s official Tik Tok account, quoted by Barca Universal.
This year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place at the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris on Monday, October 17.
