In a post on his official Instagram, Kylian Mbappe congratulated his France teammate Karim Benzema on winning the Ballon d’Or. Mbappe, a striker for Paris Saint-Germain, finished sixth in the 2022 Ballon d’Or, becoming the first French player to do so since Zinedine Zidane in 1998.

The 34-year-old had an incredible 2021–22 season, scoring 44 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions and assisting Real Madrid in their victories in the Champions League and La Liga.

Mbappe, who finished sixth in voting for the Ballon d’Or, posted a message on his Instagram story with the following statement:

“Congratulations, bro. Well-deserved.”

The former Lyon forward is just the second recipient of the honor since 2008, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. 2018’s winner was Luka Modric, a teammate of Benzema who plays for Real Madrid.
