Mbappe, who finished sixth in voting for the Ballon d’Or, posted a message on his Instagram story with the following statement:
“Congratulations, bro. Well-deserved.”
The former Lyon forward is just the second recipient of the honor since 2008, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. 2018’s winner was Luka Modric, a teammate of Benzema who plays for Real Madrid.
